PayPal Blockchain Lead José Fernández da Ponte Joins Stellar Development Foundation

José Fernández da Ponte, former head of blockchain at PayPal, has transitioned to the stellar Development Foundation (SDF) as president and chief growth officer. At PayPal, he spearheaded digital currency and stablecoin initiatives. His move underscores Stellar's focus on financial inclusion—a mission that aligns with his personal interests.

The SDF also appointed Jason Karsh, a veteran from Block and Blockchain.com, as chief marketing officer. Karsh's expertise in brand and ecosystem strategy will bolster Stellar's engagement with developers and institutions.

Stellar's infrastructure supports real-world asset tokenization through partnerships like Franklin Templeton and facilitates fiat on-ramps via MoneyGram. Fernández da Ponte emphasized Stellar's unique position: "If the problem you're trying to solve is financial inclusion, there’s no better place than Stellar."
